Some of my best memories from my childhood include those mornings when my two brothers and I were woken by my parents in the early hours before sunrise to go on holiday. We would get dressed and jump in the car with our sleeping bags while it was still dark out (the car was loaded with much excitement the night before)!

The three of us would lie in the back of the stationwagon (the back seat was reclined) and watch the stars while Simon and Garfunkel played softly in the background.

Passports and Visas

Passports for South Africans travelling abroad:

If you are a South African citizen and you are travelling to another country, you will need to have a South African passport.  The various types of passports include tourist passports, child's passports, temporary passports, documents for travel purposes and emergency travel certificates.  These must all be obtained from the Department of Home Affairs.  You will need to complete a BI-73 application form, which must be lodged in person at a Home Affairs domestic office or a South African Embassy or Mission, if abroad.
